Xenophilic Soul
Our Malaysian adventures were nearing their end and already made us nostalgic about the great time we had during our stay in this country. The kind hospitality of the local people made a home in our heart and ignited our xenophilic soul.
We both had travelled internationally before marriage, but travelling with each other, forming the perfect duo was an unbeatable experience. Exploring new cultures together revealed a new part of personalities. Cribbing over not finding satiating food, happiness over getting the perfect photos of the sunset, becoming a kid over small experiences, were a few beginnings of our xenophilic chapter.
Marking the difference between the cultures between the traveling country and the home country, we continued to draw parallels between the two. Art, architecture and discipline amazed us.
Returning from Malaysia, we realized we loved the thrill of planning a trip and executing the plans to their tiniest bits. Even when traveling within the country the new cultures would excite us more than the laidback vacations. Driving through new terrains and observing the locals would fill the unknown voids of our soul.
‘You have become such a xenophile’, I joked, and P smiled ear to ear, ‘Haven’t you too?’
It was true.
It was our inquisitive side that got excited over kopi kiosks, prayer ribbons, and multilingual signage. The joy of discovering different sides of Malaysia kept us on our toes, unveiling a new tale each day. Each step filled with curiosity led us to discover new chapters of this country.
