Yearning For Home
‘Ah, it feels like home, isn’t it?’ I chirped as I snuggled into the inviting bed. We had just checked in to our accommodation after returning from Langkawi. We had booked the same place in KL for both the durations, before and after the trip to the duty-free island.
Our luggage from the cloakroom arrived a few minutes later and I got out of bed to answer the door. The room layout and view were different from the previous visit, four days ago, yet it offered the same level of comfort. It has become our safe haven in another country.
Placing the luggage in the rack and exploring the kitchenette and its appliances with prior familiarity gave this place a homely feeling. Spacious yet cozy, this room perfectly catered to all the needs of international tourists. We could cook some light meals if we liked, but time didn’t permit us to explore that possibility. Despite having a fully equipped kitchen, time limitations allowed us to only reheat some takeaway meals and enjoyed them at the small dining table. The en-suite Nespresso machine at our disposal was very comforting.

Catching sunrise from the window was our favorite beginning to the day. We could see the sun rising from the hills far behind. The room became our lens to capture the magnificent skyline of Kuala Lumpur including the stunning Merdeka 118, the second tallest building in the world.
From the window I could also oversee Little India and various restaurants. It instantly lifted my mood, thinking of the friendly meals I could have without having to explain my preferences. The KL Sentral, hub of all modes of public transportation, was just a few minutes’ walk from our place. This made venturing out anywhere in KL way too convenient. It really felt like we were casually stepping out of our home.

Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. During our latter part of the stay, we missed to notice that the new room had international power outlets, the ones our mobile chargers weren’t compatible with. It was only until the next morning, the day of Genting visit, when we came across the fact that our charger wouldn’t fit any of the electrical points. P quickly requested at the reception. He was escorted to a phone charging booth available in the lounge, but it didn’t have the option to use our own fast chargers, and we had to leave in the next thirty minutes. After rummaging through the drawers, the staff procured a travel adapter and lent it to us, saving us from the troubles of the day.
Very quickly, we had become accustomed with our surroundings, hence, coming back to this hotel felt like coming back home. The hospitality and ease of moving around from here made it a perfect choice. It had become our home outside our home. I am highly inclined to commit that if we were to ever visit KL again, we would opt for the same again.
