Just One Day

She opened her eyes to the first rays of the day. She glanced around and her gaze fixed on the date of the calender. Thinking of tomorrow, her day of love, a smile added to her glow. This date was her favorite. How she wished that she could celebrate this day as she always did.
“Will I live another day Doctor?”, ignoring her faltering heartbeat, she asked her Doctor who has just entered.
He stayed silent. He had no answer.
Just one day…. just one more day Doctor, tomorrow is my son’s fifth birthday.” Her pain reflected in her words.

My theme is READER’S IMAGINATION: you hear a book’s name and your imagination takes you the world of your own. The world your imagination creates which is totally different than the world which author has created in the book.

Just One Day- Gayle Forman

A breathtaking journey toward self-discovery and true love, from the author of If I Stay.

When sheltered American good girl Allyson “LuLu” Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

  1. The last line brought forth goosebumps. Loving the way you bring so much meaning through last liners. I saw it coming yet it was still powerful. Wonderfully written Nibha 🙂 Cheers!

  2. Sad…but hopeful that she does celebrate her son’s fifth birthday. Your write ups have so much sensitivity filled in them. I appreciate that 🙂
