Over A Sip Of Tea!

Here’s another diary entry of the ordinary girl. Lets read it together..

Dear Diary,
A cup of coffee tea can be a major issue in life. Yah I know its unbelievable. But in a country like India and for a person like me who doesn’t drink tea, it’s a big issue. I am used to getting reactions like- what!-you-don’t-drink-tea? Are-you-alien? How-can-anyone-not-drink-tea? These are just a few. These reactions don’t matter anymore now. To people, denying tea seems like I denied water!
Someone said that a lot can happen over a cup of coffee but I say a lot more can happen over a “sip of tea”! Like what? Like you can get a hundreds of looks from the circle of friends who are die-hard addicts of tea! These looks range from puppy face to angry don’t- you-talk-to-me-now look! And all this fuss just because of a cup of tea!
This situation leaves me with two options- either oblige to their request order or be there suddenly feeling like an outcast(I always opt the latter one). Another option is asking ground to swallow you up to avoid the looks while their persistent requests don’t end. Yet another option is to start doubting your choices and thinking why being different is so unacceptable. But to end it, just think of creative answers everytime you are thrown with questions like these- why-don’t-you-drink-tea? Just-a-cup-won’t-do-any-harm! It’s-the-national-drink! Have-a-sip-atleast? We-don’t-like-you-to-be-the-left-alone-one! (If I wasn’t feeling left-out your consistent statements will end up in making me feeling like one for sure) Yes a cup of tea can do that much to you! How to explain them that I don’t hate tea I just don’t like it. As simple as that, so I just say- I’m not choosy, I’m just classy! 😛 (No offense)

Neither ask me for tea,
It’s for everyone.
Nor you ask me for coffee,
It’s for the “Chosen one”!

Ordinary Girl.

Have you ever felt unacceptable because of your choices? The ones that felt you feeling weird?

  1. Ah.. I know a lot of people who dont take tea.. So dont worry, you are not an outcast 😛

  2. i liked the rhyme at the end a lot. N nibhz, i really dnt drink tea or evn coffee for that matter! so am used to this r-u-crazy looks 😛

  3. I like tea and my sister likes coffee…I don’t know but somehow I never found coffee my kind of drink…but the world thinks otherwise I know!

  4. I understand Nibhz….Lekin Mere liye toh chaai is like second water 😛 😀 Sar dard – Chai, Tired – Chai, Travel – Chai, Back home -Chai, Zyada Khaya – Lemon Chai, Kam Khaya – Masala Chai, Subah utke – Green Tea, Neendh nahi aaraha hai – Dip Tea!! LOL 😀

    1. Oh Not you! Where did the similarities score-card go???
My goodness the types of tea! The only ones I prefer are the Green tea and the Iced ones!!

  5. hahaha I HATE TEA! I dont remember the last time I had that (GREEN TEA DOES NOT COUNT)
You know when I visit people, they just make me tea without asking and I have to humbly oblige 🙁

  6. Sometimes I chuckle over comments like that because you’d think peer pressure ends when you’re no longer a teenager. I’m in my 40s, and I still have other women trying to pressure me in a similar way – have a sip of (whatever drink they’re trying to shove down my throat). You’ll like it you’ll see. He! At my age I know what I like 🙂

  7. Hahahahaaha Nibha, I have a friend while in ccd she told me she hates coffee. I, for a moment, stared at her in disbelief, as I had heard it for the first time. And then we ordered something else for her. Now whenever we go out, I know what she likes and I do take care of it in advance. She does same with me for my food choices 😉
So people don’t accept at once something different from what they see in their routines, but its not a sin and didn’t matter even if it was- you give them awesome answer- they deserve that! 😉

  8. i am also not addicted to tea but sometime a good flavor tea give good amount of mood change.
In the winter it is easily available sip to give energy to the body.
