Mission Confession

A knock at his door woke him up. The wall clock showed 7am. He cursed himself to have slept an hour over his stipulated time, even if it was a Sunday today. He rushed out of his bed and changed into his jogging clothes. His usual green tea with daily newspaper waited by his bedside, but couldn’t seek his attention. There isn’t time for this, he thought as he rushed out grabbing his Iphone. He tuned into his favourite FM channel as he plugged in his bluetooth headphones.
The RJ was wishing all the birthday babies of the day and after this followed the usual messages and confessions people sent to be read on-air. It always amused him why people couldn’t convey their feelings on the face of the people they love. May be it’s easier this way, he thought. After all he had no experience of falling in love yet. He stopped abruptly as he heard his name announced on-air by the RJ.
“You dwell in my heart,
you are the inspiration for my art
In my heart you dwell,
There’s so much more to tell,
But for now,
Without you the world feels blue,
Looks like I have fallen for you!”

“That was a romantic poem by… umm… name isn’t mentioned here. So, our hero here has a secret admirer. And now it’s time for the latest song here only on….”
That was different, he thought. He always had a long list of admirers, and girls who had a crush on him had done crazy things to get his attention but couldn’t reach the finish line of the race. This was the first one to get hold of his mind even if it was just for five minutes, all because he always loved poetry. He was a poet himself but no one had written for him until now.
He reached back home an hour later to find a small newspaper-wrapped box outside his door. He had received so many gifts earlier, where cost have been no issue. But this hit him directly in his heart with it’s love and warmth. It was simple yet creative, that’s what made it unique. He unwrapped it. Inside it was a cupid. He smiled, a little amused with this strange gift. Valentine’s is still a few days away. Who’s this is new girl, he thought.
He opened the other newspaper envelope to find a beautiful handmade card with cupid and and a heart on his arrow. After admiring the card for full five minutes, he opened to read the words it contained. A poem in beautiful handwriting met his eye.

“You dwell in my heart,
you are the inspiration for my art
In my heart you dwell,
There’s so much more to tell,
But for now,
Without you the world feels blue,
Looks like I have fallen for you!

My name I know, you don’t remember
But just a small place is all I need
In your golden heart’s chamber!

A mere sight of yours,
Brightens up my day,
Your beautiful crimson love
Will paint my shades of grey!

I wish I could borrow,
This cupid’s little arrow,
To take away your heart
Until death do us apart”

He was totally taken aback with such a romantic shock of his life. He wanted to know who she was. Her words were simple yet touched his heart like none other had done till now. But how could he find her!! The bell rung at the door, brought him out of his reverie.

“Get up N! Your alarm has been ringing since past half an hour!” My roommate shouted her lungs out, standing beside my bed.
“Just a minute, He’s going to just open the door and see me finally!” I grumbled in sleep.
“With whom are you strolling around in your dreams that you refuse to come back to reality? You promised me shopping today. Get up now, I am hearing no more excuses now!”
I groggily looked at her with half opened eyes.
Shit!! I was again dreaming! I thought this time it was real!
“Again him??” She smirked.
I nodded my head, blushing.
“Hmm, get up now!” she was by now fed up of my nagging her about how to confess my love for him but with no solutions so far.
Seeing me dragging myself out of my bed, she turned around to walk out of the room.
“Hey, I finally have the idea! I know what I’m going to do for the confession!”
She stopped dead and looked at me with are-you-serious expression.
I nodded as I told my whole dream to her which was going to be my plan-of-action! Mission-Confession!
