The Celebration #BarAThon

Read Here:  Part one  | two

Hours turned into days and days turned into weeks. Everything went back to the way it was. Avinash turned even more workaholic than before and only returned home after his parents have slept. Many of the days he even left before they woke up or didn’t even come home to avoid their concerned eyes and worried words. He knew that what he was doing wasn’t right but he was unable to pull himself out of the trap called depression. Everyone at office was concerned about him but nobody really knew what to do. Life just went on until one day when finally, the sun rose above the dark clouds and everybody heard the genuinely happy voice of Avinash.

“Guys, we got the funding and also the first deal of our product!” He entered the room shouting at the top of his voice. The ambience of the place changed instantly. While founders discussed the details of the deal, the interns played the music at the volume that could impair anyone deaf!

“We should organize a party for this success”, exclaimed Dipshita.
“I don’t think we should invest money in parties, I think a small get-together of our friends and family will be enough for the celebration”, spoke Ritesh. Though he wanted the same as Dipshita has suggested but he also knew that Avinash would never agree to this. This Avinash who stood beside him wasn’t a party animal anymore.
“But Sir, it will get us the attention we need”, spoke Dipshita and launched herself into the lecture how a small success party will help their company grow. After all she was the social media intern, she knew how to convince people.
“Let’s do it then. But keep it under the budget”, spoke Avinash startling everyone in the room.
“Don’t worry about it! My best friend works in the Royal Events as the Event Manager. She will definitely help us out!” said Dipshita in her child-like innocence.
“It’s The Royal Events, Dipshita! You know what does that mean!” spoke Ritesh.
“Yes, I know. But who said Royal Events will arrange it. Ruchi would be happy to do it on personal terms, I guess”, Dipshita winked as she said this.

She was lost in the thoughts of life and philosophy as she turned the last page of Adultery. She kept the book aside and picked up her phone to check the latest updates.
5 missed calls! Dip will kill me now! She hurriedly called her back without even noticing that the calls were almost about two hours back and it was already ten minutes past one at night.
“Helloo”, came a grumpy reply.
“Oh sorry, did I wake you up?”
“Yes Ruchi, you did!” But Dipshita was wide awake by now. After a few customary pleasantries and reminiscing old times, Dipshita briefed her on the idea of celebration. Date for the success party was the next Saturday and they hardly had ten days to plan. Ruchi happily agreed to assist as it was an off-season for the events and she had quite some free time on her hands. More than that, she could never say no to Dip. While Ruchi had always traversed through a smooth road in her life, Dip had always faced struggles on every front of her life. But their friendship had stood the test of time and distance.

With their personal contacts and relations, Ruchi and Dipshita had managed to invite a few people from big media houses so that the news made it big. Ruchi had even arranged an interview with team of founders. Day of celebration arrived and nobody could believe that such wonderful arrangement was pulled off in less than ten days and that too way within the budget. Everybody praised both the friends. Ruchi had suddenly become the favorite part of their small family.

Music played on in the garden and people danced away after a few drinks. Parents had called it a night just after dinner was served. It was only the founders and the interns and ofcourse Ruchi. Avinash tired of the recent events, picked up a bottle of beer of bottle and walked towards a secluded tree of the garden. He preferred his drinks alone, especially after whatever has happened. The place was dimly lit and he couldn’t notice somebody was already sitting there until he reached close enough that he couldn’t turn back without being rude.

“Oh Ruchi! You scared me!”
“Did I? Avinash right?”
“Yeah, Right! What is star of the event doing here alone, I wonder. Shouldn’t you be there at the dance floor”, spoke Avinash, wondering where the words came out from so effortlessly. It felt like ages he had talked to anyone.
“Umm.. not really. Yes, I love arranging parties but I’m not really a party person”, Ruchi confessed. “But what are you doing here, running away from all the lights? Shouldn’t be the founder enjoying this success?”
“Yes, I did. But I’m a loner myself”, he admitted.
“What are you reading on your Kindle?” He asked as he noticed the Kindle in her hand.
“Oh, it’s Tuesdays With Morrie. It’s about life and lessons.. Umm.. we don’t realize how fragile lives are? Do we?” she asked in return.
Fragile Lives.. yes..” Those two words were enough to transport him back to the memories he was running away from.

  1. I wouldn’t say that Avinash would get tied up with Ruchi now. His startup is his mistress for a really long time! I’m loving the way the story has unfolded, Nibha! Good job 🙂

          1. Something that involves more of the startup? There are very few stories regarding them, and it will surely help you prepare some content that’s different from the rest #JustASuggestion 🙂

  2. Looks like they will get together… have similar likes and tastes. Like the pace of the story in this chapter. Great going, Nibha 🙂
